deposit quarter until party answers! I thought there were no more; but I discovered this one stored away since 1999! The LAST of those Fred did: made it so you could get 911 free but pay 25 cents to talk otherwise (depending on time length). Called post-pay (to talk / transmit / be heard). The quarter is supposed to turn the transmitter on. So, you dial your number (7 digits only(won’t dial out long distance(has a toll-restriction beyond 7))). There are still a few around (one in a dance hall since the mid-1980s and a few in taverns or roller rinks.) This concept of “post-pay” is old and was used by Telcos for many years. What does this phone do?  Can be timed. Your discretion. Or not timed. Adjust timer from 1-1/2 to 5-1/2 minutes. There is a “beep” signaling that you have 18 seconds to either say bye-bye or deposit another coin. Or if you don’t want it timed, just pull the little plug! Let them talk all day for a quarter. Three choices for operator and information: A. Free B. For a quarter C. Not at all You determine this by the little “switches” inside. You switch on the operator or off. You select whether the operator comes on for free or for a quarter! Just by switching. Information restriction is achieved by restricting the #1). Mandatory free 911 emergency. Your choice of 8th digit restriction or not. But, remember if you make it unrestricted, they can dial long distance for a quarter . We set the options here, first and send instruction with phone for you to change for future. Operates as follows: 1. Lift up handset (should have dial tone). 2. Dial number. 3. Deposit coin when party answers (this will switch transmitter to turn on so you can talk to the party). Drawbacks: 1. Takes only 1 coin, not a combination. 2. Use for outgoing calls only (does not ring). 3. Does not return coin if you deposit coin first and get a busy signal or no answer. 4. Long distance calls can be placed only by operators, using calling card or collect call (timer is engaged so coin will be needed, unless you have unlimited time option).
