During the Art Nouveau period Daum Flourished as a family run company. Currently Daum is the only commercial crystal manufacturer employing the technique of pouring crushed glass into molds.  During the early 1900s Daum's glass became more elaborate as Jacques Gruber incorporated the acid etching method along with carving and engraving to produce the most stunning creations.  These creations also feature applied glass elements, such as handles and ornamental motifs in naturalistic forms. The Daum brothers quickly moved on to become one of the major forces in the Art Nouveau movement, seriously rivalling Gallé, so much so that when Émile Gallé died in 1904 they became the leaders in the field of decorative glass.  Daum still uses their once primitive methods to create fantastic sculptures for the world today.
