    Description

    Fully Refurbished North Electric Galion
This wonderful working example of 1940s design is sure to fit into your period decorating scheme. What I love most about this phone is the great RRRING that will be sure to get the attention of everyone in your household!
This North Electric Galion desk phone was introduced during the 1940s as a direct competitor to the Western Electric 302. During the early years of production the body of these phones were made from metal. This was changed in later years to Bakelite. North Electric made their own dial for these phones, although they are often found with an Automatic Electric dial. Western Electric manufactured the internal network. The practice of sourcing parts from different manufacturers was common among many of phone producers, although North Electric actually manufactured most of the components for their phones in their factory in Galion Ohio. North Electric manufactured many phones through the years. It is perhaps best known for the Ericofon that it produced under license during the 1960's. This phone is an early model metal body Galion. It has been carefully stripped and then given a new high gloss finish that not only looks fantastic, but also has great durability. The Automatic Electric dial has be cleaned lubricated and adjusted to original manufacturer specs. The original Bakelite North Electric handset has been lovingly buffed to bring our it's original high gloss sheen. As a finishing touch, a new cloth covered handset cord, and a modular line cord has been added to this classic. All components have been fully overhauled and tested to ensure that they will function properly both now, and in the years to come.
    The Restoration Process
    Dial
    – The dial is an early Automatic Electric that has been fully disassembled, cleaned, lubed and timed to ensure years of trouble free service.  We have sandblasted the finger wheel / dial ring and powder coated in a semi-gloss black. We have also added a brand new die cut dial card and acetate.
    Cords
    – The phone has been outfitted with brand new black cloth cords and the line cord has a modular connection to facilitate a modern connection to your wall jack.
    Shell
    – The shell has been painstakingly put through a multi-step restoration process which includes sanding with 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit. This ensures that there are no scratches, dents or dings. The shell is then carefully buffed on our two step buffing wheels. This takes out the fine abrasions left by sanding and leaves the Bakelite with a smooth factory fresh finish.
    Handset
    – Handset has been ultrasonically cleaned to get all embedded debris. It is then sanded with the same process as the shell and buffed back to its beautiful original shine.
    Base
    – The base is completely stripped of all its components and sandblasted clean. It is then sealed with a clear coat to resist rust. The components are then cleaned, tested and reinstalled.
    Feet
    – The feet are disassembled and sand blasted. They are then wrapped with super soft pig skin suede leather to ensure it does not damage the table it proudly sits on.
The phone goes through extensive testing before to ensure it is in perfect working condition prior to shipping.
Do you currently have any rotary phones? If the answer is no, it is always a good idea to call your local phone company and check if they still support “pulse” dialing. If they do, you are all set to go. If they do not, your phone will not be able to place calls without a converter. We have internal converters for this type of setup available for .95 (installed during assembly)  or an external solution for 44.95.
